Learn at the iSchool

Welcome to Learning Management at the iSchool

The iSchool's learning management course tool is Blackboard Learning System CE (WebCT).  This learning management course tool (LMS) is used to facilitate distance learning and enhance main campus courses at the iSchool. It is a flexible, integrated environment where students can integrate course experiences into the real world communities of work and play. The environment is composed of a number of elements that will help you be successful in both your current coursework and your lifelong learning opportunities.

Note:  The iSchool uses their own version of Blackboard.  We are not affiliated with the SU campus-wide Blackboard Enterprise System.

Here is the direct URL to bookmark your access to Blackboard Learning System CE (WebCT) = which we will refer to as our LMS:  http://ischool.syr.edu/learn/

WebCT4 courses..
Access to WebCT4 (the past version of the iSchool's learning management system) will remain until further notice.  All courses will remain in tact for faculty and students to access.  Please always link directly from this page for WebCT4 = bookmark this page.

New Students: Welcome to the iSchool.
Graduate Students:

"Graduate Student Services" Session in our LMS:

All new distance students should have access to the "Graduate Student Services".  The Graduate Student Services session blends alumni students, current students, new students and staff through a discussion forum with topics ranging from residency questions, course information, textbooks, how to’s during the ‘boot camp’ to simple chit chat.

Syllabi are posted in the "School of Information Studies Syllabi" session in our LMS as they are received from the faculty. Some of these syllabi may be labeled as a draft, and students should check back for updates.

If you do not see these 2 sessions in your learning management account, please email ilms@syr.edu with your NetID  to request it.

Distance Education Policies:

Online classes follow the same academic calendar as campus classes and are NOT self paced. Students enrolled in online courses should expect the need to log into their course at least every other day. Many courses grade participation heavily.

Any questions should be directed to Kathryn Allen at kallen02@syr.edu.

Prospective Students:

If you would like to take a look at our LMS, but you don't have an account yet, you can still log in. The following steps will show you how to log in with the guest account, which will provide you with access to the Virtual Tour of our LMS. The Virtual Tour will show you the tools and features of the courses.

For access to the Virtual Tour, please send an e-mail request to the LMS Administrator at ilms@syr.edu.
