Summer at the iSchool

Summer at the iSchool at Syracuse University offers a broad range of options for students and working professionals, graduates and undergraduates alike. Classes are available online, on-campus and as hybrids; in six week sessions, extended sessions and condensed sessions. Summer at the iSchool course topics include information security, digital forensics, applied data science, information visualization, information policy, data mining, and more.

HELEN BENNING REGNIER SUMMER INSTITUTE

 

All incoming online Masters students (except Executive track IM and SIGCEN) are required to attend Residency Week I during the Helen Benning Regnier Summer Institute on Leadership and Change in an Information Society

Residency Week I consists of the required gateway courses for each Masters program. Review the New Online Student Checklist for program specific gateway listings. 

Gateway courses will be accessible online through Blackboard (SU's LMS) on JUNE 22nd and remain open through the residency. It is important that pre-work, including readings and assignments, be completed prior to arriving on campus for the residency portion of gateway courses.

Residency Week II consists of additional courses available to all Masters students.

  • Maymester: May 11 - May 22
  • Combined Session: May 18 - August 14
  • Summer Session I: May 18 - June 26
  • Summer Session II: July 6 - August 14
  • Residency Week I: July 10 - July 17
  • Residency Week II: July 20 - July 24

SUMMER REGISTRATION

Registration for 2015 Maymester and Summer courses begins on March 18th. Review course offerings now through the Class Schedule. Students should register early as classes fill up fast.

Both current and newly admitted students may register for Summer courses in MySlice. For instructions on how to register in MySlice, visit the Registrar's "How Do I Register?" page. Students may also contact University College directly with registration questions at 315-443-9378, or by visiting the Summer at Syracuse website.

For student loan eligibility, enrollment of at least six credits per semester is required. All sessions listed above are considered summer semester.

HOUSING & PARKING

On campus housing and nearby hotels are available during residency weeks. Temporary parking permits and paid lot parking is available as well. For more information on arranging housing and parking during your planned residency course, visit the Residency Weeks webpage.
