Overview
Carlos Villalba OCP CEH CISSP PhD(ABD) is a Professor of Practice at Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies where he teaches Oracle Database Administration, Open Source Application Deployment and advanced IT Security topics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Carlos holds among others the following professional certifications: Oracle Certified Professional, Certified Technical Trainer, Certified Internet Webmaster, ITIL, Certified Information Systems Security Professional CISSP, and Certified Ethical Hacking.
He also consults nationally and internationally on security, SEO and e-commerce projects. Carlos has more than 17 years of solid IT professional experience and has been awarded for optimizing processes with IT strategies. His focus as a practitioner is to develop security integration frameworks and security testing tools to provide defense in depth. His research agenda includes: IT Security, Open Source Applications, Distance Education, Structural Communication, Emergent Technologies, and Human Performance. He has authored and published two books aiming to facilitate faculty use of technology. Carlos has assisted in peer-reviewed publications as editor and published over 20 pieces highlighting his work.
