Renee Franklin - Curriculum Vitae
Renee E. Franklin teaches courses directly related to preparing students to enter the School Library Media profession. Her teaching and research interests are centered in the areas of library education and increasing diversity within LIS programs.
Dr. Franklin earned a Ph.D. and master's degree in information studies at Florida State University's College of Information. She obtained a bachelor's degree in exceptional student education at Florida Atlantic University.
Research Interests
Dr. Franklin's research interests involve examining a variety of library education issues in the areas of school library media and LIS programs. With regard to school libraries, she is especially interested in and will conduct research related to school library administration, media specialist preparation, and intellectual freedom issues within school libraries. Dr. Franklin's research related to LIS programs involves examining the experiences of minority students in LIS graduate programs and factors affecting minority LIS facultys career paths in order to better understand how to increase diversity within the LIS field.
Teaching Interests
Dr. Franklin has taught a variety of courses related to Information Studies in general and School Library Media specifically. These courses include Design & Production of Media Resources, Information Services, Information Seeking, Technical Communication, Research Methods, and Literacy through School Libraries. She is currently the instructor and faculty supervisor for students completing School Media practicum experiences.
