Login and Loading in Blackboard:

Q: I am trying to login to Blackboard and I get an error. I have tried to login using different browsers, ran the Browser Check, etc. but I am able to successfully login to MySlice, SUMail, and the network. Why is this happening?

A: Blackboard system glitch - Follow these easy steps to fix:
  1. First clear your browser history and try again… if that doesn’t work, continue to step 2
  2. Go to http://its.syr.edu/netid/
  3. Reset your password and challenge question
  4. Restart your computer
  5. You should be able to login with your NetID and new password
Q: What browser works best with Blackboard?

A: We highly recommend that you use Firefox with Blackboard, as that is the most compatible browser.

Courses in Blackboard:

Q: I dropped a course, but it still appears in Blackboard. How do I delete it?

A: It might take a few days for your drop request to go through PeopleSoft. Once this request goes through the system, your course will be dropped from Blackboard. If you still see your class in Blackboard, please email ilms@syr.edu

Q: I have signed up for courses this semester but they are not showing up in Blackboard. How do I access my courses on Blackboard?

A: Courses are available by instructors on Blackboard one week before the beginning of the semester. If a course is added once the semester has begun, the course will appear in Blackboard the following day.

School of Information Studies Course Syllabi:

Q: How can I access my syllabi before class begins?

A: You can access a syllabi from the course schedule from the iSchool home page. Click on the faculty's name, then click on teaching history. Professors will post syllabi there.

Assignments and Grades in Blackboard:

Q: My professor has graded my assignments but I am unable to view my grades in the grade book. What should I do?

A: Please contact your instructor or e-mail ilms@syr.edu your NetID, course information and assignment title.

Q: How do I check that my assignment uploaded properly?

A: After you have submitted your assignment, follow these steps:
  1. Click on "My Grades"
  2. Look to see if there is a green box with an exclamation mark-if there is one, your submission was successful. For more information about confirming an assignment submission, please click here

Course Evaluations for Blackboard Courses:

Q: I am unable to access my course evaluation in Blackboard. What should I do?

A: Firefox is the preferred browser for completing course evaluations in Blackboard. If Internet Explorer shows a “Navigation Cancelled” error, please try again in FireFox, or email ilms@syr.edu.
