iSchool LMS Information
Many courses in the School of Information Studies use a web-based teaching and learning environment called LMS (formerly WebCT). Each semester, the number of courses using LMS increases.
LMS is an instructional resource tool used in the online environment to:
- deliver distance learning courses
- provide an integrated environment for faculty and student communications outside of class using e-mail, course-specific bulletin boards, and synchronous chat sessions
- provide an integrated environment for the distribution of course materials such as the syllabus, supplemental readings, self-paced examinations and skills exercises, and the online posting of shared student assignments
- privately distribute student grades and grade statistics
- provide private discussion forums for group-based assignments and exercises
Students can access their LMS courses at the following url: http://ischool.syr.edu/learn/
If you have any questions or need additional information about LMS, please contact Peggy Brown, director of instructional design, at ilms@syr.edu.
