Career Planning: Resumé Examples

"A company is known by the people it keeps."

These resume samples are taken from The Perfect Resume by Tom Jackson, published by Doubleday in 1990. This source, as well as many other guides to resume writing, may be found in the Career Planning Office, 4-206 Center for Science and Technology. You will also find many valuable guides in the Reference section of Bird Library and at the Career Services Center at Schine.
  • Chronological Resume: work experience and personal history arranged in reverse time sequence. This is the most widely used style of resume, and the most familiar to employers.
  • Functional Resume: work experience and abilities cataloged by major areas of involvement, usually with dates.
  • Targeted Resume: a highly future-focused presentation directed to a very specific job target.
