M.S. Library and Information Science ‘11
Syracuse, NY

I moved to Syracuse from a small Maine city on the day after my 24th birthday to start working on my MSLIS. My appreciation for the city of Syracuse and its inclement weather may have wavered at times, but I will always remember these two years as a student of Syracuse University as idyllic, being full of fantastic people, amazing experiences and unparalleled opportunities.
Between classes, I kept myself busy trying to glean as much out of graduate school as possible. I joined iSGO (the iSchool Graduate Organization) and the ALA student chapter, volunteered for local events, and worked a myriad of local part time library jobs and internships. Without a doubt, participating in iSGO was one of the best decisions I have ever made. As a former wallflower myself, I want to tell anyone reading this that throwing yourself out there and becoming an enthusiastic "joiner," even though it's terrifying at first, is incredibly rewarding. It's from these extracurricular activities that I have met the most admirable, friendly peers and had the best times as a student.
As sorry as I am to be leaving behind my graduate student life, I am confident in knowing that Syracuse University has prepared me to go out and conquer the world. If any prospective students, current students or alumni would like to talk to me about Syracuse University, libraries, or the best place in town to get ice cream, please feel free to contact me at
