Upon graduating from the Whitman School of Management in 2007 with a B.S. in Finance and Marketing, I found myself confused about my next step in my life. I made the choice to continue my studies at SU and apply for the IM program with the iSchool. My decision was made through the tremendous amount of advice and support that I received from peer advisors, current students and faculty of the iSchool. I was given the opportunity sit down with a few professors and talked with them about my future, what I wanted out of my education and the steps I needed to take to continue my education. Not many schools would take that extra time out to help a prospective student and that time spent with me definitely changed my life.

My experience with the iSchool was the major component of my success today. I began my master’s degree during the summer after my undergraduate graduation and was able to immediately apply for internships for the following summer. This gave me a head start with my future career. I was able to secure an internship with Ernst & Young, an accounting firm in NYC and now I will be starting as a full-time employee in Fall 2009 because of the decisions I made with the iSchool and their support.

I understood early on that my decision to combine Information Management from a technology school with my background in Finance and Marketing would give me an advantage. This was evident during my first semester in grad school when I worked for Kroll, Inc in NYC and I was able to get a sense of the importance and need for technology and management on a corporate level.

I come from a large family and I decided early on to go to a fairly large school. The diverse environment of Syracuse University enabled me to understand and appreciate the role of leaders. Leaders give advice as well as listen, they have experienced similar journeys as their peers, and they have a mission to help those that strive for excellence and want to achieve. The iSchool has helped me become that person and I look forward to helping the next generation of leaders.
