Kaitlyn Bennett
BS Information Management and Technology ‘10
Syracuse, NY
As a recent graduate of Syracuse University, I am honored and excited to continue my interaction with the iSchool as an Alumni Leader. I have earned a B.S. in Information Management and Technology, with a double major in Political Science, and a minor in Global Enterprise Technology.
I grew up in a suburb of Rochester, NY, and although I do appreciate small town country living, I always knew I wanted to attend college at a large university. The iSchool turned out to be the ideal place for my undergraduate studies because of the integration of business, communication, and technology into the curriculum. The iSchool provided an opportunity to pursue certain aspects of technology that I was most interested in, gain an understanding of business fundamentals, and develop my communication skills.
Throughout my four years here I dedicated my time to school, work, and extracurricular activities, but also made sure to enjoy my time here at Syracuse as much as possible. I was involved with iSchool peer advising, SIFE (Students in Free Enterprise), dance organizations, and community services activities. I was also in Alpha Chi Omega and I served on the Panhellenic Executive board. I feel that my involvement outside of class was highly valuable because it helped me to develop time management, interpersonal, and leadership skills. I recommend taking advantage of all the opportunities Syracuse has to offer both academically, socially, and professionally.
One of the best experiences I had at the iSchool was the curriculum and the extended internship program associated with JPMorgan Chase. In addition to taking these classes and pursuing the GET minor, I completed an 8 month internship program at JPMorgan Chase. Through my internship I gained knowledge of the financial industry, and experience utilizing technology in a real world setting. I worked in Treasury and Securities Services on a reference data team where we were primarily responsible for processing lending transactions, and maintaining client accounts and security information, using a variety of technology systems. Although I was offered a position as a Technology Analyst in the Corporate Development Program at JPMorgan, I have decided to stay in Syracuse and complete my masters in information management.
I feel that the iSchool prepared me to face the challenge of working in a corporate setting by providing a well rounded education and a versatile skill set. I have truly enjoyed my experience at the iSchool and I am looking forward to beginning my career after I complete my masters degree. Please don't hesitate to contact me at
