I am from Rajasthan, in the western part of India. I completed my Bachelors of Technology (B. Tech) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in 2003, and before coming to Syracuse, I worked as an assistant systems engineer for two years with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. in Mumbai, India.
During my studies at the iSchool, I was fortunate to work as a graduate assistant for Professor Robert Heckman, Director of the Information Management program. Working with him has given me a chance to develop new initiatives in the IM program and interact with current and prospective students. I also worked as an IT consultant in the school’s Instructional Lab (ILAB). In addition, I acted as IM program representative to the school’s Graduate Students Organization (ISTGO); participated actively in a student research group called IT Exponent; and enjoyed my role as a student mentor. All these positions have enabled me to contribute a bit towards building and strengthening the IST community.
The two years of my IM degree have been very rewarding for me. The program structure has helped me fill the gaps in my professional abilities, and various career events have helped me develop good relationships with the employers and iSchool alumni. I am pleased that I secured a position with Ernst & Young in their Technology and Security Risk Services division at New York City beginning in Aug 2007.
