Divya Kurup
M.S. in Telecommunications and Network Management ‘07
Brussels, Belgium

I received my B.E. degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the University of Mumbai, India in 2001. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I worked for several companies in India, including IIT Mumbai, Agiv India Pvt. Ltd., Zylink Networks Pvt. Ltd., D-Link India Pvt. Ltd and Veritas India Pvt. Ltd. These work experiences helped me realize I wanted to gain an in-depth understanding in the network domain, so in 2005, I entered the Telecommunication and Network Management program at Syracuse University. I was fortunate to interact with Professor Dave Molta, who gave me an opportunity to work at CENT (Center for Emerging Network Technologies). While working at CENT I was able to publish an article in Network Computing as a co-author and also gained real world experience while testing state of the art networking products. As a graduate assistant at CENT I was responsible for handling various certification study groups offered by CENT under the guidance of Professor Molta.

My two years at the iSchool have been a wonderful experience as it has helped me to improve various skills ranging from technical to communication skills. I have also had the opportunity to work closely with Women in Information Technology, a student organization that sponsors field trips, information sessions, and alumni panels to encourage women to achieve success in information technology careers. Currently I am a doctoral student at Gent University in Belgium, with Wireless and Cable (WiCa) research group at Department of Information Technology (INTEC). If you have any questions on the program, or are interested in getting professional experience, feel free to drop me a line at divya_kurup@yahoo.com . I look forward to talking with you.
