Simon Sjogren
Simon SjogrenBS in Information Management and Technology ‘07Ithaca, NYI remember coming to Syracuse University as a transfer student and being unsure what the next few years at this innovative school might bring. I did not realize how many opportunities the school had to offer, and having graduated December 2006, I am honored to have done so much more at this very rewarding institution than I would have ever expected.
From the many classes that I attended, to working as an information technology consultant, and being an RA during my junior and senior years, I always tried to be involved in many activities on campus. However, academics was always my first priority, because I knew that these classes would prepare me for the real world. It was in the iSchool classes where I learned how to work effectively on teams, and to present material to many groups of individuals across a very broad spectrum of knowledge. I also supplemented my information and management technology major with a minor in marketing.
I was president of the Acacia fraternity, which helped expand my leadership skills and also helped me become someone people could come to in time of need. These skills culminated in my role as a resident advisor, where I used those leadership and speaking skills that I had developed from my classes and from the fraternity to counsel and mentor other students in the residence hall.
I am currently working as a production assistant for WTVR News Channel 6 in Richmond, Virginia. I hope to continue working there for the next few years, and from that point on, who knows. I will always remember my time at SU and will never ever regret the choice that I made of attending this great school.
