BS in Information Management & Technology
Information drives society, and our graduates enable society to shift into high gear. Here are a few examples of how our graduates can make a difference:
• A court reporter uses Twitter—a social networking media—to announce immediately the jury’s verdict before writing up the full story.
• An analyst at a credit card company manages large-scale information systems to detect fraudulent transactions before they can clear.
• A sports agent knows how to track, analyze, and present his athlete’s stats to secure the best contract.
• An environmental engineer calls on technology to model the potential fall-out from a toxic spill.
• A designer employs 3-D software to collaborate and create an artistic and functional plan that suits a client’s needs.
• A web developer builds databases and web-based applications to customize a web site for a client.
• An international group organizes interactive online meetings to bring together lawyers from around the globe to address human rights violations.
More than ever, professionals are needed in the IT field, and despite the economic downturn, the information technology industry continues to hire, adding jobs in information systems design and IT management and consulting services, among others.
Our graduates fill a wide range of job titles in an even wider range of industries. Many of our alumni begin their careers as consultants, web designers and developers, project managers, network administrators, and database programmers. Some go right into developing their own businesses.
