B.S. Information Management and Technology '08Atlanta, Ga.

I’m a Midwestern girl at heart. One of seven children in a blended family, I was raised in Perrysburg, a suburb of Toledo, Ohio. A graduate of an all-girls Catholic high school, I took every business and computer class available, and it often came to the point where the computer teacher would pull me out of class to help with something in the lab.
Therefore, when it came time to pursue options in higher education, I was drawn east to Syracuse University and later chose the iSchool because of the interdisciplinary integration of business and technology with a global perspective.
With a major in Information Management and Technology and a minor in Marketing, I worked to explore and develop myself both personally, professionally and academically over the past four years at Syracuse University. I did this by recognizing and seizing opportunities: through my academic work, studying abroad in Florence, Italy, working as an undergraduate research associate, being crowned ’07 Homecoming Queen, through my membership in Kappa Alpha Theta women’s fraternity, volunteering, and receiving the Remembrance Scholarship.
I have accepted a job opportunity with GE Infrastructure in the Information Management Leadership Program (IMLP), a two-year rotational training program, where I will begin in Atlanta, GA in June 2008. The program focuses on developing leadership, project management, technical and communication skills.
Before accepting my full-time position with GE, I completed two IMLP internships with the company, one with GE-Infrastructure-Power Generation in Schenectady, NY and a second with GE-Infrastructure-Aviation in Cincinnati, OH and also assisted with on-campus recruiting. I wouldn’t have found out about IMLP if it weren’t for GE’s on-campus and classroom visits to the iSchool!
