U.S. Army Signal Center

The School of Information Studies at Syracuse University (iSchool) and the United States Army Signal Center School of Information Technology (SIGCEN) at Fort Gordon formally established an agreement to enable qualified United States Army Signal Center students and graduates to complete master’s degrees at the School of Information Studies at Syracuse University.

The program provides an opportunity for officers who have completed courses at SIGCEN in information systems managers or telecommunication engineers to transfer credits that will go toward their M.S. in Information Management or M.S. in Telecommunications and Network Management at the iSchool. Qualified soldiers will be able to transfer 9 to 15 credits from SIGCEN to the iSchool and will be able to complete the remaining master's degree requirements online.

Eligibility of Students and Admission to Syracuse University

This agreement applies to students who have graduated from the FA 24 and FA 53 Courses in 2008 or beyond. Students who have graduated prior to this date will be evaluated on a case by case basis for transfer credit. Requirements for admission to Syracuse University School of Information Studies are not altered due to this agreement. Graduates of SIGCEN are considered to have completed a graduate program and therefore, are not required to take the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) for admission. In accordance with SU policy, the program requirements should be completed within seven years. A student is required to complete both the SIGCEN and the SU program within seven years.
 

Syracuse University Army Scholarship for the School of Information Studies

The Army Scholarship for the School of Information Studies will be offered to a current student or graduate of one of the following programs:

  • FA53 Information Systems Manager
  • FA24 Telecommunication Engineer

at the United States Army Signal Center, Leader College for Information Technology (LCIT).

The iSchool at Syracuse will offer a 50% tuition scholarship to an officer attending one of the following programs:

  • Master of Science in Information Management
  • Executive Master of Science in Information Management
  • Master of Science Telecommunications and Network Management

We will begin accepting applications for the SIGCEN scholarship in March
