National Defense University Partnership

Syracuse University’s School of Information Studies (iSchool) is the original academic partner with the National Defense University’s Information Resources Management College (iCollege). Through this partnership, which has existed since 1998, the iSchool offers graduates of selected iCollege certificate programs enrollment in our executive masters degree or professional doctorate program with advanced standing.*

The Master of Science in Information Management - Executive Track is a 30 credit hour program and is available on campus and online. The current iSchool / iCollege agreement provides:

  • 9 credits for students who complete the Information Assurance 4011 Certificate
  • 9 credits for students who complete the Architect Certificate within the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Program.
  • 12 credits for students who complete both the IA 4011 and 4012 Certificates
  • 12 credits for students who complete the IT Project Management Certificate
  • 15 credits for students who complete both the Architect Certificate and the Enterprise Architecture Certificate within the Enterprise Architecture (EA) Program.
  • 15 credits for students who complete the Chief Information Officer Certificate
  • 15 credits for students who complete the Chief Information Security Officer Certificate
  • 15 credits for students who complete the Organization Transformation Certificate
  • 15 credits for students who complete the Chief Financial Officer Certificate
  • 15 credits for students who complete the Government Strategic Leader Certificate

The Doctor of Professional Studies in Information Management is an online 51 credit hour program that normally takes three years to complete. The iSchool will award up to 9 credit hours for any of the above NDU iCollege Certificate programs.

The following Certificates of Advanced Study may also be earned while at the iSchool:

  • eGovernment Management &Leadership (co-offered with the Maxwell School)
  • Information Security Management
  • Information Systems & Telecommunications Management
