LIS Admitted Student Reception

Come meet your future Classmates, the Dean, Faculty, Current Students and Alumni

Admitted students can attend the reception and witness the culture of our school, which we believe to be unique and second to none. Please come to meet our faculty, alumni and students and preview the impressive Hinds Hall, a possible home for you in the near future.

Schedule of Events

9:00 Arrive Hinds Hall (Breakfast will be served)

9:30 – 4:00 Program and Lunch
Meet the faculty, staff, students and alumni. There will be information on financial aid, housing, curriculum, research, student organizations, learning management system, and career opportunities. There will be panel discussions with the faculty and alumni and plenty of opportunity to seek additional information on all related topics. You will be able to review the learning management system that is utilized for our online courses and a communication tool for all students.

An enjoyable lunch with faculty, alumni and students is planned and some additional time to socialize at the closing of the day.

Directions and Parking

Hinds Hall is located in the heart of the Syracuse University campus on the northeast corner of the quad.

You may park at the following lot: Q4. 

If you are on Comstock driving toward campus from Manley Field House area - turn left on Euclid Ave, toward campus. Tell the person in the booth that you are on the list to park at Q4. After the booth you will turn right, and directly after the white frat house on your right is the lot.

If you are on Comstock driving from frat row/Adams Street side - turn right on University Place. Tell the person at the booth your info. At the very next stop sign right after the booth, turn left on College Place. Q4 is at the end of College Place. You will pass by the Life Sciences Complex and Q4 will be on your left, before the white frat house.

Hotel Accommodations

The school will provide for one night accommodation for admitted students traveling from outside of driving distance (two hour range). We have reserved rooms at the Sheraton Syracuse University for the night of Friday, March 20th. If you choose to stay Saturday night, you will receive our discounted rate ($129 + fees and taxes). Please RSVP by March 10th to reserve the room by contacting Kat Posner, a current LIS student, at cslis@syr.edu.
The School of Information Studies at Syracuse University held its iOpening celebration at its new home in Hinds Hall on the Main Campus Quad. The festivities included a digital ribbon cutting of a virtual red ribbon wrapped around an image of Hinds Hall.
Each year, Syracuse University brings to campus prestigious speakers to address students, including acclaimed memoirist and Pulitzer Prize winner Frank McCourt.
