Computer accounts
Students use a number of different computer accounts at Syracuse University, most of which use your username and password for authentication. New students must activate their username, called NetID, by visiting Computing and Media Services' (CMS)
Computing Access
page and clicking on Activate now!
Services authenticated by NetID include e-mail, e-mail address directory, computers in campus labs, SU software download site, SU personal Web page server, the MySlice portal, AirOrange wireless, and WebCT. For more information, see
Student Computing Access
on the CMS Web site.
Listservs
Listserv mailing lists are used to keep you informed of important announcements pertaining to the School of Information Studies and the Master of Science in Information Management program. At a minimum, students in the Washington program should subscribe to the ISTWASH listserv. For instructions, see the
Listservs
page in the Courses and Advising section.
Orangemail (E-mail)
Orangemail
is the online e-mail system provided to students, and it is the official channel of communication for important university correspondence. If you usually use another e-mail address, you can choose to have your SU e-mail redirected to that address instead of to Orangemail. To change your e-mail delivery, log in to
NetID Management
with your SU username and password.
