Executive Education Programs

The School of Information Studies is dedicated to expanding the capabilities of people who are at all stages in their professional development. The executive education programs at the iSchool focus on preparing mid- to upper-level managers for senior leadership positions and for advancing their organizations to new tiers of achievement.

We offer a variety of programs for working professionals looking to boost their careers—through a formal degree program, certificate of advanced study programs, certification programs, or short topic-driven seminars, workshops, symposia, or similar event-based experiences. This range of options allows individuals to choose brush up on their skills or delve into a subject area more intensively.

Programs created specifically for the executive track include:

• Doctorate of Professional Studies
  • A 51-credit, limited residency, part-time doctorate for working professionals
• M.S. in Information Management for Executives
  • A 30-credit hour version of the M.S. degree with courses offered online, on campus, or a combination of both formats

Mid-career professionals seeking to develop expertise in one of the following areas can enroll in a Certificate of Advanced Study programs:

• Cultural Heritage Preservation
• Data Science
• Digital Libraries
• eGovernment Management and Leadership
• Global Enterprise Technology
• Information Innovation
• Information Security Management
• Information Systems and Telecommunications Management
• School Media

The iSchool also sponsors other career development opportunities each year that vary in subject, duration, and location. Several of these are in partnership with other groups around the globe, including:

• Executive Master’s in eGovernance with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology at Lausanne
• Chief Information Officer Certification through CIO University, a division of the U.S. General Services Administration
• Joint Digital Library Workshop with the China National Library of Science in Beijing
