Course Delivery

Certificate courses are offered in two delivery formats:

  • online
  • campus-based (summer intensive or traditional semester courses)
A student may earn the certificate through online courses only, through campus courses only, or through a combination of online and campus courses. All eligible electives may not be available during the time students take to complete the certificate.

Please consult our course schedule for delivery format and schedule of courses offered.

Online Courses
The digital libraries certificate courses are available online in an Internet-only format. Courses are offered during the fall and spring semesters and throughout the summer. Internet courses require, on average, 8-10 hours of work per week. This is roughly the same time commitment as any graduate course.

Campus Courses

Intensive Summer Courses
Intensive courses are offered on campus during the summer in the school’s Summer Institute for Leadership and Change in an Information Society. These courses are offered for 1, 2, and 3 credits, over two, five and seven days, respectively. Intensive summer courses require total commitment during that time period. Campus housing is available.

Traditional Semester Campus Courses
Courses are also available on campus in traditional 14-week semesters in the fall and spring. Classes are usually held in the late afternoon or evening.
