About e-Science
e-Science is a new way of conducting scientific research: sharing and managing a huge volume of data and collaborating in various aspects. Researchers in diverse research fields have encountered a deluge of data and its management problems of acquiring, storing, retrieving, and mining them. This inevitably calls the need for "e-Science professionals" who extend librarianship into solving large scale information management problems. These trends reflect the changing breadth and nature of PhD education in library schools, and it especially requests an urgent need to produce library faculty with certain specialties in e-Science education.
