Admission

Application Due Date

Applications are accepted until June 1 on a space-available basis, although applications submitted by February 1 will be in the initial pool for iSchool-awarded financial assistance.

Online Degree Requirements

All applicants to graduate programs at Syracuse University must have a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. The School of Information Studies recommends that applicants have an undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 or better. However, in reviewing applications, all elements are weighed, including references, educational record, test scores, resume, honors, work experience, personal essay, and statement on academic plans.

The School of Information Studies requires an application and supporting materials to be submitted in order to be considered a candidate for admission to the school. More information about applications are found at the Graduate School Admission page:
http://www.syr.edu/gradschool/em/future_howtoapply.html

Please note that online students must select Summer as the starting semester on the application.

Team projects and group oriented class work are common in many iSchool courses. As a result, many students find themselves more engaged in course topics, while at the same time developing and fine tuning their collaboration skills which are an essential asset in modern information technology environments.

Originally built in 1955 to house the College of Engineering, renovations began in summer 2003 to completely overhaul the building to suit the techie and collaborative needs of the iSchool.
