The Syracuse University Art Collection houses its nearly 45,000 objects in a temperature and humidity controlled area of Sims Hall, adjacent to the Lowe Art Gallery, but many other works, including the Sacco & Vanzetti mosaic by Ben Shahn, decorate the outdoor spaces on the campus.
Originally built in 1955 to house the College of Engineering, renovations began in summer 2003 to completely overhaul the building to suit the techie and collaborative needs of the iSchool.
RJ Sherman, iSchool information management graduate student and 2010 Engagement Fellow is the CTO/CFO Brand-Yourself.com, a student startup featured on Mashable.com and located in the Syracuse Student Sandbox. Sherman founded the company with fellow SU students Pete Kistler, Evan Watson and Patrick Ambron. The company was recently awarded $275,000 in venture capital and was a finalist in NY’s Creative Core’s $200,000 Emerging Business Competition.
