Stan Linhorst

Stan Linhorst has been senior managing editor of Syracuse’s daily newspaper, The Post-Standard, since 1999. Previously Mr. Linhorst was the newspaper’s director of New Media. He is founding editor of NewsLine and Homework Hotline, digital information systems launched in 1992. He is also founding editor of Syracuse.com, launched in 1994 in collaboration with the iSchool.

Mr. Linhorst came to Syracuse as city editor of the Herald-Journal in 1984 after three years as an editor at The Union-Tribune in San Diego, California. Prior to that, he worked as a reporter and editor at the Binghamton, New York-based Press and the Columbus, Nebraska-based Telegram. He grew up on a farm in Nebraska, where the daily newspaper was his inspiration. He is a 1975 journalism graduate of the University of Nebraska.

Mr. Linhorst has been on the boards of the New York State Society of Newspaper Editors, the Interactive Newspaper Network, and the New York State Associated Press Association. In addition, he participates in a variety of Central New York community groups. He is married to Sue Carroll Linhorst, an alumna of the Syracuse University Newhouse School’s master’s in magazine, newspaper, and online journalism program. Mr. Linhorst has been a member of the iSchool Board since 1999.
