James Luckett
James Luckett is research funding coordinator for the Syracuse Center of Excellence (
http://www.syracusecoe.org), identifying and defining funding opportunities for its federation of partners.
Mr. Luckett’s professional career spans business and higher education. He spent 16 years working with universities, beginning with a 10-year stint as research administrators at SUNY College at Brockport, the University of Iowa, and Syracuse University. At Syracuse University, Mr. Luckett held the position of director of the Office of Sponsored Programs. Mr. Luckett left SU in 1989 to lead two Internet start-up companies. The first, NYSERNet, is a not-for-profit organization that deployed the first Internet network in New York State for colleges and universities. The second, AppliedTheory Corporation, specialized in Internet solutions for businesses and went public in 1999.
Mr. Luckett owns his consulting business, APT Consulting, which specializes in strategic planning for non-profit organizations and businesses seeking to sharpen their product and services plans.
Jim and his wife Terri live in Cicero, N.Y., and have two sons, Andy and Pat. He has been on the iSchool board since November 2009.
