Chrstopher M. Sedore

Christopher M. Sedore is Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer of Syracuse University. He is responsible for Syracuse University's Information Technology and Services (ITS) department, which provides central technology support and services for the academic and administrative functions of the University. As CIO, Mr. Sedore also provides and promotes cost-effective and strategic application of information technology at the University; oversees IT disaster recovery, security, and privacy; and ensures that the University makes appropriate technology investments to support teaching, research, learning, and administration. His breadth of knowledge and leadership has also enabled broader involvement in University affairs, beyond the traditional duties of a VP of IT and CIO, creating collaborative relationships with both academic and non-academic leadership.

Under Mr. Sedore’s leadership, Syracuse University constructed and opened its $12.4 million, 12,000 square foot Green Data Center (GDC). A collaboration of SU, IBM and New York State, the GDC has been hailed as one of the world’s greenest computer centers, designed to use about 50 percent less energy than a typical data center. Mr. Sedore has been a member of the iSchool Board since November 2009.
